IMPORTANT

The keypad has an auto-repeat feature. If a key is held down for more than 1 second, the
key action will repeat, automatically, at the rate of 15 keystrokes per second. This is
particularly useful when editing numeric fields, with many digits, such as frequency or data
rate.

F.2

ODU Remote Control Address Setup

The Outdoor Unit (ODU) connected to a CDM-570 Modem through FSK can be remotely
monitored and controlled by using ODU remote commands through Serial Remote or Telnet.
The address of the ODU is setup as follows:

• For local-end ODUs,

- use Modem’s RC address + 1 for Stand-alone unit or Online unit in a 1:1 redundancy

system;

- use Modem’s RC address + 2 for Offline unit in a 1:1 redundancy system.

• For distant-end ODUs in an EDMAC setup,

- use Slave Modem’s RC address + 3 for Stand-alone unit or Online unit in a 1:1

redundancy system;

- use Slave Modem’s RC address + 4 for Offline unit in a 1:1 redundancy system.

The user is presented with the following choices:

Config

(Configuration) This menu branch permits the user to fully configure
the unit.

Monitor

This menu branch permits the user to monitor the alarm status of the
unit, to view the log of stored events, and to display the Receive
Parameters screen.

Test

This menu branch permits the user to invoke one of several test
modes (loopbacks, for example).

Info

(Information) This menu branch permits the user to view information
on the unit, without having to go into configuration screens.

Save/Ld

(Save/Load) This menu branch permits the user to save and to
retrieve up to 10 different modem configurations.
