Remote control

The remote does not function.

• Point the remote at the remote sensor on the

receiver.

• Remove any obstacles in the path between the

remote and the receiver.

• Replace all the batteries in the remote with new

ones, if they are weak.

• Check if the command modes of the receiver and

the remote is the same. If the command mode of
the receiver and the remote is different, you
cannot operate the receiver with the remote.
To switch the command mode of the remote, press
?/1 while pressing INPUT MODE. Each time
you press ?/1, the command mode switches
between “COMAMND MODE [AV2]” and
“COMAMND MODE [AV1]”. (The initial setting
is “COMAMND MODE [AV2]”.) For STR-
DA5000ES, the command mode of the remote is
automatically set to match the receiver when you
perform the AMP REGIST operation again.

• Make sure you select the correct input on the

remote.

Error messages

If there is a malfunction, the display shows a
code of two numbers and a message. You can
check the condition of the system by the
message. Refer to the following table to solve
the problem. If any problem persists, consult
your nearest Sony dealer.

DECODE ERROR/CHECK CODE 01

Appears when the signal which the receiver cannot
decode (ex. DTS-CD) is input when “DEC.
PRIORITY” in the CUSTOMIZE menu is set to
“PCM”. Set to “AUTO”.

PROTECTOR/CHECK CODE 11

Irregular current is output from the speakers. Turn
off the receiver, check the speaker connection and
turn on the power again.

PROTECTOR/CHECK CODE 12

The amplifier section is overheated. Check that the
ventilation hole is not covered. Turn off the
receiver, leave the receiver for a while and turn on
the power again.

PROTECTOR/CHECK CODE 13

The power section is overheated. Check that the
ventilation hole is not covered. Turn off the

receiver, leave the receiver for a while and turn on
the power again.

PROTECTOR/CHECK CODE 21

Turn off the receiver and consult your nearest Sony
dealer.

PROTECTOR/CHECK CODE 22

There is a problem with the power circuit. Turn off
the receiver and check the speaker connection. Then
turn on the power again.
