7 Autopatch Operations

(U.S.A. versions only)
Some repeaters offer a service called autopatch.
This feature allows you to dial a telephone number
from your transceiver and carry on a telephone
conversation.

This function requires the use of a DTMF (Dual Tone

Multi Frequency) keypad. The transceiver also
provides four additional keys - A, B, C, and D - in
addition to the normal 12 keys found on your
telephone.

These keys are required for various control
operations by some repeater systems. A chart listing
the various tone frequencies generated by the

keypad is provided below.

To activate the keypad:

Press and hold the PTT switch

Dial the number just as you would on a normal

telephone by pressing the appropriate keys.

Note
Some repeaters require a special key sequence to
activate the autopatch function. Check with the
control operator for this sequence.

You will hear and transmit a single tone if you press
the VFO key before pressing one of the numeric

keys (see the chart at right).

Selecting Delay Time

(Direct keyboard entry only)

It’s easier to enter a long string of numbers if you
don’t have to hold down the PTT switch while you

enter them. To instruct the transceiver to remain

keyed for 2 seconds after pressing each number:

1 Turn the power off.

2 Press and hold the 2 key and turn on the power.

3 Release the 2 key.

You are now able to enter numbers without pressing
and holding the PTT switch.

Repeat 1 and 3 to cancel the delay time.
