Important Telephone Safety Instructions

The digital postage meter connects directly to analog telephone
lines. For your protection, basic safety precautions should always be
followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to per-
sons. These safety precautions include:

Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.

Disconnect the digital postage meter's telephone line during a
lightning storm.

Avoid using a telephone or equipment that connects to a tele-
phone line during an electrical storm; there may be a remote risk
of electrical shock from lightning.

Do not use the telephone or equipment connected to the tele-
phone line to report a gas leak in the vicinity of the leak.

Never install telephone jacks in wet locations.

Do not use this product near water, for example, near a bath tub,
wash bowl, kitchen sink or laundry tub, in a wet basement or
near a swimming pool.

Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the
telephone line has been disconnected at the network interface.

CAUTION: To reduce the risk of fire, use only 26
AWG telecommunication line cord that was sup-
plied with the digital postage meter.
