Using the timers

The play and record timers

Turning the timers on and off

The selected timer comes on at the set time if the indicator (“

r

PLAY”

or “

r

REC”) is on. The timer can be turned on and off by pressing

[

r

PLAY/

r

REC].

Checking the timers

While the unit is on
Press [CLOCK/TIMER] to select “

r

PLAY” or “

r

REC”.

The set timer conditions are shown in the following order.
Play timer:
start time

finish time

source

volume

Record timer:
start time

finish time

source

While the unit is off
Press [CLOCK/TIMER].
The clock and the indicator for the timer that is on are shown.

Playing the unit after the timers are set

The unit can be used after the timers are set.
Check the following before turning the unit off again.
If playing tapes or making a recording:
Reset tape direction.
If playing discs:
Make sure the desired disc is selected.

Note

If you turn the unit off and on again while a timer is functioning, the
finish time setting will not be activated.

If the unit is on, the timer will not function. The unit must be in the
standby mode.

If AUX is selected as the source, when the timer comes on, the
system turns on and engages AUX as the source. If you want to
playback or record from a connected unit, set the other unit’s timer
to the same time. (See the other unit’s instruction manual.)

The record timer cannot be used with DVDs and Video CDs.

The timer cannot be used to start the CD MANAGER or program
play.

The sleep timer

Remote control only

This timer turns the unit off after a set time.

Press [SLEEP] to select the time (minutes).

Each time you press the button:
SLEEP 30

SLEEP 60

SLEEP 90

SLEEP OFF SLEEP 120

To cancel the sleep timer

Press [SLEEP] to select “SLEEP OFF”.

To confirm the remaining time

While the timer is functioning
Press [SLEEP].
The remaining time is shown for about 5 seconds.

To change the setting

Press [SLEEP] to display the remaining time, then press again to
select the required time.

Using the timers together

The play and sleep timers or the record and sleep timers can be
used together.
The sleep timer always has priority. Be sure not to overlap timer
settings.
The play and record timers cannot be used together.
