Preparations
Direct Function
The direct function is a useful feature which allows you keep the receiver in one function (for example, CD)
while putting the remote control in a different function. This could let you, for example, use the remote control
to set up and listen to a CD on the receiver and then use the remote control to rewind a tape in your VCR while
you continue to listen to your CD player.
When the DIRECT function is ON any MULTI CONTROL button you press will change the function of both the
receiver and the remote control. When you turn the DIRECT function OFF, you can operate the remote control
without affecting the receiver. Thus you could switch the remote control the VCR and operate that component
while the receiver plays a different component.

To set a multi-function button to DIRECT OFF:
1 Press SETUP and hold for three seconds.
The LED will blink twice.
2 Press the MULTI CONTROL button which you
want to set to OFF.
3 Press 9, 8, then 3.
The LED blinks twice to indicate the button has been cleared.
To set a multi-function button to DIRECT ON:
1 Press SETUP and hold for three seconds.
The LED will blink twice.
2 Press the MULTI CONTROL button which you
want to set to ON.
3 Press 9, 8, then 2.
The LED blinks twice to indicate the button has been cleared.
TV CONT doesn’t have this feature and thus can’t use the DIRECT
FUNCTION.

1 To turn the DIRECT function OFF (the default
setting is ON), press REMOTE SET UP and
number button 3 at the same time.
2 To turn the the DIRECT function ON (if you
have turned it off), press REMOTE SET UP and
number button 2 at the same time.
TV CONT doesn’t have this feature and thus can’t use the DIRECT
FUNCTION.
