Re-initialize Settings
This returns all values in the SETUP menus, except for the
clock, channel settings, ratings level, and on-screen language,

Disc Languages
Choose the language for audio, subtitle and disc menus.

Press [ENTER] to display the menu.
pEnter a code ( ➡ page 40) when you select “Other ____”.
pSome discs start in a certain language despite any changes
you make here.

Ratings
Set a ratings level to limit DVD-Video play.
Follow the on-screen instructions. Enter a 4-digit password with
the numbered buttons when the password screen is shown.
pDo not forget your password.
p8 No Limit: All DVD-Video can be played.
p1 to 7: Prohibits play of DVD-Video with corresponding
ratings recorded on them.
p0 Lock All: Prohibits play of all DVD-Video.

Recording Time in EP Mode
Select the maximum number of hours for recording in EP mode
(
➡ page 17, Recording modes and approximate recording
times).
pEP (6H): You can record for 6 hours on an unused 4.7 GB
disc.
pEP (8H): You can record for 8 hours on an unused 4.7 GB
disc.
Play DVD-Audio in Video Mode
Select “Video (On)” to play DVD-Video content on some DVD-
Audio. pVideo (On):The setting returns to “Audio (Off)” when you
change the disc or turn the unit off.
pAudio (Off)
Video 3-D Y/C Separation pOn: Reduces noise by separating the luminance (Y) and
color (C) signals when recording.
pOff: Reduces the ghosting that occurs when recording fast
moving images.
Hybrid VBR Resolution

pAutomatic: The resolution is automated to provide efficient
recording with less block noise. [RAM]
pFixed: The resolution is fixed to ensure that there is no
loss of source picture resolution while recording.
Still Mode
Select the type of picture shown when you pause play
(
➡ page 40, Frames and fields).

pField:
Select if jittering occurs when “Automatic” is selected.
pFrame: Select if small text or fine patterns cannot be seen
clearly when “Automatic” is selected.
Line-in NR
Reduces video tape noise while dubbing.
pWhen noise reduction is on, “3-D Y/C Separation” (
➡ above)
does not work regardless of the setting.
pAutomatic: Noise reduction only works on input picture from a
video tape.
pOn: Noise reduction works for any input video.
pOff: Noise reduction is off. Select when you want to
record input as is.
