Installing the IEEE 1394/Firewire Interface Board in a PCI Slot
After turning the computer off and disconnecting all cables, insert the interface board in one of
the computer’s PCI slots as shown below. For information on the location of the PCI slots and
on installing PCI boards, see the documentation provided with your computer.
Do not use force when installing the interface board. Excessive force could damage the computer
or the board.
If you will be using the interface board
with devices that require power to be sup-
plied by the computer, you will need to
connect the board to the computer’s
power supply. You will not need to con-
nect the power supply if you will only be
using the 8000 ED, which receives power
from an external source.
