Tweeters “burn
up” easily

Crossover is in “passive fil-
ter bypass” configuration.

External crossover is not fil-
tering the tweeter properly.

Excessive clipping from
amplifier.

Equalizer in system (if avail-
able) has excessive boost in
the high frequency range.

Check wiring and re-config-
ure as needed.

Check configuration of ex-
ternal crossover and re-con-
figure for at least 6kHz @
18dB/octave

Check gain settings on am-
plifier and readjust as
needed.

Check settings on equalizer
and readjust as needed.

speakers

working amplifier and re-
pair or replace as needed.

Check for shorts in the
wiring with a volt/ohm
meter and repair or
replaced wires as needed.

Check system with known
working speaker and repair
or replace as needed.

Distorted sound
from speakers

Engine Noise
from One
or More
Speakers

Incorrect wiring between
crossover and speakers

Speaker wires shorted
to chassis of vehicle.

Crossover is mounted near
radiated noise source.
(Power cables, computers,
etc.)

Check wiring and repair
or replace as needed.

Check for shorts in the wir-
ing with a volt/ohm meter
and repair or replace wires
as needed.

Move crossovers away from
noise sources. (Refer to In-
stallation
section of manual
on crossovers.)
