THX Select Certified

The TX-SR701 boasts the distinction of the exclusive THX Select badge of
approval. This gives you assurance that this receiver passed (and often exceeds)
THX’s numerous requirements in such areas as frequency response, distortion,
power output, and stability.

The Latest Decoding Formats

In addition to the formats you’ve come to expect from Onkyo’s high-end
receivers-THX Surround EX, Dolby Pro Logic II, DTS-ES, etc., you’ll also find
two of the latest decoding formats for your home on the TX-SR701. Dolby
Digital EX, for six full-bandwidth channels from 5.1-channel sources and DTS
96/24 sound quality comparable to the 96 kHz, 24-bit master in full surround
sound glory.

Dual 32-Bit DSP Chips

These powerful and highly accurate dual 32-bit DSP processing chips combined
with the ultra-precise 192 kHz/24-bit audio DACs featured in the TX-SR701 give
you an accurate digital signal to faithfully recreate a wide variety of surround
sound from digital sources for pure audio perfection.

Color-Coded Inputs and Outputs

Onkyo’s commitment to bringing the most user-friendly designed products
to market further manifests itself with color-coded inputs and outputs. Now
you’ll no longer have worries about which wire goes to which input or output.
Simply attach the color-coded label to the appropriate wire, and attach the
cable to the same colored input or output for fast and easy connection.

Powered Zone 2 Capability

Unlike other receivers, you don’t need an external amplifier to enjoy 2.1 channels
in the main room, while at the same time your partner listens to a different
stereo source (radio, CD, MD, LP or cassette) in another room.

VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry)

Conventional D/A conversion methods reduce digital pulse noise at the
conversion stage but can’t remove it completely. Previously only available on
Onkyo’s high-end components, VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry) employs
a unique D/A conversion circuit to overcome this problem. Data is converted
between the sampling points and these discreet sampling points are joined
with analog vectors in real-time to produce a smooth output wave form.
The result—a noiseless, smooth analog signal based on the digital source.

Crossover Adjustment for Bass Management

Previously crossover frequency was fixed at 80 Hz. With Crossover Adjustment,
you can set the frequency at 40/60/80/100/120/150 Hz depending on your
speaker’s bass playback ability. This lets you more accurately match the
performance characteristics of the subwoofer to your front speakers.

Absolute Ground Plate and Bus Bars

Formerly only found in our higher range of receivers, the Absolute Ground
Plate and bus bars diminish fluctuations in the electrical potential and
eliminate ground hum for more efficient power distribution, reduced noise,
and crisper sound.
