UltraAV HDMI 4-1 Audio/Video Switch

READ ME FIRST – SETUP INSTRUCTIONS

Congratulations on your purchase of the UltraAV

HDMI 4-1 Audio/Video Switch. This HDMI switch is designed

to provide exceptional performance and value. It allows access to 4 HDMI devices from a single HDMI display.

For use with a DVI device, please use an optional HDMI to DVI adapter or HDMI to DVI cable.

Features:
• Supported Resolutions: 480i, 480p, 720p, 720i,

and 1080i, 1080p (1920 x 1200 computer resolution)
• Built-in signal booster

• Supports HDCP compliant devices
• Infrared extender included

About the IR Extender: In order to operate the HDMI switch with the remote control the switch must be in
the line-of-sight of the remote control. The switch has a built-in IR sensor that communicates with the remote

control. If the HDMI switch will be placed out-of-sight then the IR extender, with its built-in IR sensor, should be
used. The remote control will communicate with the switch through the IR extender.

About the Built-in Booster: The HDMI 4-1 Switch has a built-in booster that supports up to 65’ (20m) cable

runs between the video sources and the HDMI 4-1 Switch. The use of Accell HDMI cable is recommended.

How to Connect the HDMI Switch:

Step 1: Insert the included power adapter into the power jack labeled “DC 5V” located on the rear of the HDMI
switch. Plug the adapter into a power outlet.

Step 2: Connect the HDMI cables from each of the video sources into the video inputs labeled
“CH1”,“CH2”,“CH3” and “CH4” located on the rear of the HDMI switch.

Step 3: Connect the HDMI cable from the display (or projector) into the “HDMI Out” port on the HDMI switch.
Step 4: Power on the video sources and display (or projectior). Ensure the HDMI 4-1 switch is powered on.

Step 5: If locating the HDMI switch in an out-of-sight location, plug the IR extender into the port labeled “IE”
on the rear of the HDMI switch. Place the end of the IR extender in a location that is visible to the remote
control. The end of the IR extender is fitted with adhesive tape. Remove the backing to use the tape.

Inserting the Battery Into the Remote Control:

A 3V “coin” battery is included with the remote control. To activate the battery, remove the clear plastic strip
protruding from the bottom of the remote. The remote control is ready for use.

To replace the battery, remove the battery holder located on the lower rear of the remote control. While

pushing the slotted tab inwards pull the battery holder out. The battery holder allows the battery to be inserted
only in the correct position. Slide the battery holder back into the remote control.

How to Operate the HDMI Switch:
1.
Push the On/Off button to activate the power. Note: Should the remote control become lost or inoperable,

to turn the switch on, unplug the power adapter from the switch. Plug the adapter back in to turn the switch on.
2. Use the remote control to remotely toggle between sources. The Select button will scroll between the video

sources in sequential order. Pressing the numbers 1, 2, 3 or 4 will switch directly to the selected video source.
3. Alternatively, use the push button labeled “Select” on the HDMI switch to toggle between CH1~Ch4.

Troubleshooting:
-If the HDMI switch fails to operate using BOTH the manual push button and the remote control,

1. Ensure the HDMI sources and the display (or projector) are powered on.

2.

Check both ends of each HDMI cable to ensure that they are fully inserted into each device.

-If the HDMI switch works with the manual push button but fails to operate using the remote control,

1. Ensure the clear plastic strip protruding from the bottom of the remote has been removed.
2. Ensure the switch or the IR Extender is in line-of-sight to the remote control

3.

Unplug all the cables, including the IR extender if used, from the HDMI switch. Reconnect all of the cables in
the order described above in “How to Connect the HDMI Switch”.

4.

Replace the remote control battery. See “Inserting the Battery Into the Remote Control” above.

Note: The maximum operating distance from the remote to the switch is approximately 25ft. The maximum

angle from the remote to the switch is approximately 20° off center. If these limitations are exceeded, the
remote control may not operate the HDMI switch or operation using the remote may be intermittent.

-If the HDMI switch works intermittently,

1.

Unplug all the HDMI cables and power cable, including the IR extender if used, from the HDMI switch.

Reconnect all of the cables in the order described above in “How to Connect the HDMI Switch”.
