Troubleshooting

Before taking your camera to be repaired, check the table
below. If your camera does not function properly even after
making these checks, take it to your nearest Canon service
center.

Problem

1. The battery

Cause

The battery has expired.

1. No battery loaded.
2. The battery is inserted

with the wrong polari-
ty.

3. The battery has com-

pletely expired.

1. The lens cover is not

open.

2. The battery has

expired.

3. The film is not loaded

properly.

4. A finished film is

loaded in the camera.

5. The shutter releases

after the red-eye
reduction lamp is lit.

1. When the shutter was

released, the AF light
emitter and receiver
were blocked.

2. During self-timer pho-

tography, you pressed
the shutter button
while standing imme-
diately in front of the
camera.

3. The camera was

moved when the shut-
ter button was
pressed (camera
shake).

This is a self-diagnosis
display when reset is
necessary.

Remedy

Change the battery.

1. Load a battery.
2. Reinsert the battery cor-

rectly.

3. Replace the battery.

1. Open the lens cover to

turn on the power.

2. Replace the battery.

3. Reload the film correctly.

4. Remove the film and

load a new one.

5. Keep pressed until the

shutter is released.
Change the flash mode.

1. Make sure the AF light

emitter and receiver are
not blocked by hair, fin-
gers, etc.

2. Make sure you are not

standing directly in front
of the camera.

3. Press the shutter button

gently.

Open then close the lens
cover. (If the display
remains, take the camera
to be repaired.)
