PLEASE  READ  BEFORE  REMOVING  OR  INSTALLING  ASCEND

IMPORTANT  INSTALLATION  PROCEDURES

Ascend  stair  treads  are  manufactured  from  a  unique  high  quality  LVT  material.  As  a  result,  the
Stair  Treads  and  Nosings  are  a  much  firmer  material  and  behave  differently  than  rubber  treads.
To  insure  a  beau@ful  installa@on,  be  sure  to  follow  these  cri@cal  steps.

1. Do  not  allow  your  Ascend  products  to  be  stored  or  placed  on  uneven  surfaces.  They  will

become  distorted  and  difficult  to  install.  Should  this  happen,  place  them  on  a  flat  surface
with  weight  on  them  to  straighten  them.

2. Nose  angles  on  stair  pans  vary.  We  have  set  the  angle  of  Ascend  noses  to  a  nominal  90

degrees.  If  you  have  a  different  angle,  you  can  adjust  the  tread  by  using  a  heat  gun  (such
as  those  used  to  remove  wallpaper).  Simply  warm  the  nose  area  and  carefully  bend  the
nose.  It  is  best  to  use  a  long  straight  edge,  to  keep  the  angle  uniform.

Required  Applica:on  Adhesives

A  successful  and  durable  installa@on  requires  use  of  the  proper  adhesives,  sealants  and  tapes.
For  proper  use  of  these  materials,  refer  to  our  website  at  burkeflooring.com.

• Use  Burke’s  “Stair  Tread  Tape”  along  the  back  of  the  nose  to  provide  an  immediate  bond  to  the  stair

pan.

• Apply  a  bead  of  Nose  Filler  compound  along  the  full  length  of  the  inside  corner  of  the  nose  to  provide

long  service  life.

• Suitable  adhesives  shall  be  applied  to  the  pan  area:

• Approved  Adhesives:

• BR-‐721  Two  Part  Epoxy

• Br-‐725  Two  Part  Urethane  Adhesive
