Magnetic Door Retainer – 24vdc/240vac (24V – MDR-025, 240V – MDR-026)
1) This electromagnetic door retainer has been designed to hold open doors at a radius from the hinge where the closing
force is less than 80 Newtons. The residual force is eliminated by the use of a push spring.
2) The assembly is made up from the following components:
• Backbox, Front Cover with electronics, Screws, Keeper Plate
3) The door retainer can be mounted on any flat surface, bearing in mind that the fasteners must be adequate to withstand
the closing force exerted by the door. The magnet assembly and keeper should be mounted co-axially. There are two
suitable orientations for the switch (which is on the front of the unit): To the left of the magnet face on a right opening door
or to the right of the magnet face on a left opening door.
4) Mounting
a. Decide on the relative positions of the magnet face and keeper face – Maximum misalignment between the
mating parts should not exceed 10 degrees angular and 3mm concentricity. The unit should be sited to be as far
away from the door hinge as possible on the door side closest to the wall on which the magnet unit is to be fitted.
b. Mark the wall using the backbox as a template. For back entry wiring use the 20mm rear knockout.
c. Fix the chassis.
d. There is provision for two conduit/MICC or cable gland entries on the top and on the bottom of the backbox.
Maximum wire size for the 24v dc device is 4mm and for the 240v ac device is 2.5mm.
e. After completion of the wiring connect the earth lead to cover (on the 240vac version) and check earth continuity.
f.
Screw the front cover to the backbox. Check the operation of the release push button switch. Press to release.
g. Fit press to release label if required.

Fit keeper plate to door after checking alignment and then test unit. The door should be fitted with closing device to return
door to normal closed position.
