two classification dyes. The unique ratio is identified by a unique
spectral address. Also sometimes called microsphere set,
microsphere region, or test by the software during acquisition.

calibration

A process used to normalize the settings for the reporter channel, both
classification channels, and the doublet discriminator channel for the
Luminex System. Calibration ensures optimal and consistent
microsphere classifications and reporter readings.

calibrators

xMAP microspheres used to normalize the settings for the reporter
channel, both classification channels, and the doublet discriminator
channel for the Luminex System.

CL1

Refers to dyes embedded in the microsphere. Also see classification
channel.

CL1 Target

Used for calibration purposes. This is the target value for the
Classification Channel 1 for the CAL1 microspheres.

CL2

Refers to dyes embedded in the microsphere. Also see classification
channel.

CL2 Target

Used for calibration purposes. This is the target value for the
Classification Channel 2 for the CAL1 microspheres.

classification channel

A specific range of wavelengths in which light intensity is measured.
Includes the fluorescence emission of a given classification dye.
Classification channels are abbreviated as CL1 and CL2.

Verifier microspheres, assay

Used to verify standards within the kit. Tells you that the curve or
thresholds are correct.

Verifier microspheres, system

xMAP microspheres used to verify the calibration and optical integrity
for the Luminex analyzer.

CSV

Comma separated value file format used to output data from the
application.

cuvette

Fluid pathway within the optics component of the system through
which the sample is read.

data reduction

The analysis of acquired batch data.

delta cal temperature

The difference between the current temperature of the Doublet
Discriminator APD and its temperature at your last calibration. The
system displays this value on the Diagnostics tab within the software.
Once the delta cal temperature exceeds +/- 3ºC, the system must be
recalibrated.
