Select the list to be searched (Not Selected For Backup or Selected For Backup), and enter the known por-
tion of the path name in the text entry box labelled Substring. Click Apply; all items in the selected list
which contain that string will be highlighted. Use the scroll bars to view the portions of the list which extend
beyond the viewing area of the selected list box. Note that entries containing the known string are not nec-
essarily adjacent.

When the Selected button for System Configuration is clicked, the System Configuration window
(

Figure 11-4

) will be displayed.

This window allows selection of individual configuration topics for backup. Click Set All to quickly select all
Micro-PWC configuration data for backup; click Clear All to quickly deselect multiple items.

11.2.1.1.1 String File Considerations

String files are the files which contain the text which appears in the windows and on button faces, etc., on
the Micro-PWC displays. These files are typically used by system integrators when converting Micro-PWC
displays to a language other than English. Files in different languages are kept in separate directories. To
save space, unused string files can be deleted from the system.

Once string files have been backed up via the Backup utility, using the Restore utility will cause the string
files to be synchronized among all members of the local console group. That is, the restored string files will
be sent to all nodes in the same console group. Synchronization will only occur on those nodes on which
the corresponding string file directory exists. Existing string files in that directory will be overwritten if they
share the same file name with restored string files. (If no corresponding directory exists, it will not automat-
ically be created.)

11.2.1.2 Backup Options

With the exception of User Model data, data stored using the Backup utility can be restored without further
user action to any Micro-PWC with a compatible tape drive, regardless of the hardware platform on which
it resides.

11.2.1.3 Backing Up User Model Data

To backup User Model data so that it can be restored to any Micro-PWC (regardless of hardware platform),
the option Use Portable Model Format must be selected. Selection of this option provides greater flexibility
when restoring data, but does cause the backup to run more slowly.
