3.3.1 Security

The Micro-PWC includes a security system of nine access levels which control the user’s access to:

Micro-PWC System functions

Process control functions

Plant areas

Access levels are assigned to both users and to the areas and functions. You must have an access level
equal to or higher than that of the function you wish to use, in order to have access to it. Available access
levels are listed in

Table 3-1

.

Security can be configured to be Active or Inactive on the Micro-PWC. When the security system is active,
the user’s access to these parameters is defined by the System Default or by the user’s login configura-
tion. When the security system is inactive, no restrictions are placed on the user’s access abilities.

If you do not have access to a function, the menu item or button for that function will appear stippled out. If
you encounter difficulty in accessing a function or plant area, see your system administrator to verify that
you have been assigned the proper access level or to have your access level changed.

3.3.2 Message Configuration

A method of communication between operators is available on the Micro-PWC, allowing text messages
known as Operator Messages to be sent from one plant Area to another. The Message Configuration fea-
ture provides this method of generating Operator Messages from a Micro-PWC.
