4.3 The Group Display

4.3.1 Accessing the Group Display

In addition to access via the Group Information window, it is also possible to call up a Group Display
directly from any Operator Window by selecting the sequence Select > Group. The Group Selection win-
dow (

Figure 4-6

) is displayed.

To call up a Group Display using this window, enter the Summary Index number, a period (.), and then the
Group Index number in the text entry box labelled Index. The keypad and List button on this display are
identical in function to those used in the Summary Index window (

Figure 4-2

).

In addition to access via the Group Selection window, you can also call up a Group Display directly from
any Operator Window by selecting Select > Group from the menu bar, or by pressing

F3. Either of these

actions will cause a window (

Figure 4-6

) to be displayed.

4.3.2 Group Display

A Group Display presents operational data for up to eight points or modules simultaneously (

Figure 4-7

illustrates a Group Display with four points). Points are assigned to the Group Display according to their
location in the Group Information window. Any module in an instrument database can be assigned to a
group display.

All available process control actions (that is, AUTO, MANUAL, RUN, RESET, and so on) and alarm
acknowledgment for tags in a group can be performed from the Group Display on a point by point basis.
Equal access is available at all times to every display button on every point on the Group Display. It is not
necessary to select a particular point prior to using the control features available for it. Clicking on a button
automatically selects the button and point.
