ALL OPERATIONAL DIFFICULTIES

If this thermometer does not function properly for any

reason, replace the battery with a new high-quality

battery (see “Battery Replacement” section). Low battery

power can occasionally cause any number of “apparent”

operational difficulties. Replacing the battery with a new

fresh battery will solve most difficulties.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT

Erratic readings, a faint display, no display, or low battery

icon

are all indications that the battery must be

replaced. To replace the battery, with the unit facing

forward, unscrew the metal housing cover counterclock-

wise until the front half is removed. Carefully remove the

faceplate, and then gently pry the electronics component

out of its metal casing. With the unit removed from its

casing, turn it over to expose six screws. Using a Phillips

®

#000 screwdriver or equivalent, remove the six screws,

gently remove the plastic casing, and then remove the

exposed battery. Replace the battery with a new 1.5 volt

357 silver oxide battery (Replacement Cat. No. 1039).

Make certain the positive (+) side is facing out. Replace

the plastic cap onto the unit and screw the six screws

back into the electronics component. Return component

to its metal casing, replace the faceplate, and screw on

the metal housing cover by turning it clockwise.
