EJ-T 2-Way Telephone Device

The EJ-T is a two-way telephone conferencing device designed for injecting telephone
audio into a PA system. It can be used for distance learning by allowing everyone in a
classroom to hear and participate in a guest lecture. It can be used for simple
teleconferencing in a boardroom or office, when everyone in the room needs to hear a
conversation. Or, in a large auditorium or arena, the EJ-T will allow everyone to hear
both sides of a telephone-based presentation. Unlike the EJ series of adapters, the EJ-T is
an active device, so it requires 9VDC power from the wall transformer provided with the
unit. It is quick and easy to set-up, and will inject both sides of a telephone conversation
into an existing PA system. Teleconferencing or distance learning has never been so
easy, or so affordable.

Basic Instructions: On the right side of the EJ-T enclosure are two modular RJ-11
connectors and one 3.5mm connector. Hook-up your telephone line from the wallplate
connection to the RJ-11 marked TEL LINE. Plug your telephone base unit into the RJ-
11 marked TEL SET. Connect the output of the EJ-T to a PA system line level input via
the 3.5mm jack on the right side of the EJ-T marked OUTPUT.

Once you have your telephone and output connections made, plug the wall transformer
into the 3.5mm jack labeled PWR 9Vdc 100mA, on the left side of the EJ-T enclosure.
You are now ready to place or receive a call via the telephone, and you should hear both
sides of the conversation through the speakers of the PA system.

EJ-T Cables: The EJ-T does not come with a standard cable for the PA system line
level input, because each PA system has different connections available for line input.
Standard audio cables are readily available via consumer electronics stores. Emtech does
have the following cables available for purchase-

16-95

3.5mm Male – 3.5mm Male (3 ft.)

16-135

3.5mm Stereo Male – Dual RCA Males (5 ft.)

16-305

3.5mm Male – ¼” Phone Jack (5 ft.)

EJ-T & Mic Level Input: Some PA systems may not have an available line level input.
For these situations, Emtech has the following balanced line level to balanced mic level
cable for connecting the EJ-T to a PA system mic level input.

16-EJTM

3.5mm Male/Line – 3-Pin XLR Male/Mic (6 ft.)

Using the EJ-T with an EJ Multi-Adapter: Another solution for connecting an EJ-T to
the mic level input of an existing PA system is to use an EJ Multi-Adapter to provide the
conversion from line level to mic level. In this case, the output from the EJ-T would be
plugged into one of the inputs of the EJ Multi-Adapter, and the EJ Multi-Adapter would
be plugged into the mic level input of the PA system via its’ XLR cable.
