QUICK START INSTALLATION GUIDE

DMX - INTELLIGENT POWER CENTER (IPC)

LIGHTS & POWER:
(Note all lights fixtures to be wired in series)
1) Identify dry, non-plenum location for IPC. Determine location & orientation of IPC and Break-Out

Modules. Note: Vertical orientation of IPC is best for cooling. Make sure DMX channel address
dials are visible and accessible. See page 6 of IPC specifications for optional acceptable
orientations.

2) Run wires from the Break-Out Module locations directly to the fixture locations.
3) Mount IPC to board w/ #8 screws or self-tapping screws or in an approved enclosure. Use approved

plenum enclosure if unit is located in plenum.

4) With typical 115Vac input, IPC consumes 2.7 amps. Standard 15 amp breaker can accommodate up

to 4 IPCs and a 20 amp breaker can accommodate up to 5 IPCs. If wiring only 4 or 5 IPCs, consider
powering from two separate circuits for redundancy.
Note: 115Vac = 2.7 Amps, 240 Vac = 1.1 A & 227 Vac = 1.0 A.

5) Provide service disconnect switch for IPCs if not in close proximity to electrical panel or as required

per code.

6) Provide line-voltage power to IPC and wire as specified on page 7 of IPC installation manual.

(Black to Line, White to Neutral & Green to Ground.)

7) Set channel address dials on IPC. (Suggestion: Set first address to match the number of channels on

the IPC. i.e. - start with channel 12 (=1x12) on first 12 channel IPC, channel 24 (=2x12) on second
12 channel IPC etc.) (Note: you can also start with any number and skip addresses for convenience.
i.e. – use 100’s for first floor and 200’s for second floor etc.) See page 10 of IPC Installation
Manual for Channel Dial addressing. Note direction of arrow head on dial and make sure dial is set
directly to number (otherwise all lights may come on or flash).

8) Wire IPC class 2 wires to Break-Out Modules. See Detail B4.09, B4.12, B6.09 or B6.12. (Black is

always Negative.)

9) Wire fixture home runs to the Break-Out Modules. See Detail B4.09, B4.12, B6.09 or B6.12.

(Black is always Negative.)

10) Wire light fixtures in series. Two fixtures per channel, typ. See Detail A1 & A2 for wiring fixtures

in series.

11) IMPORTANT: Keep track which fixtures are on which channel on a plan or spreadsheet.
12) Connect DMX control from IPC to IPC in series w/ Cat5 (RJ45) patch cables. Note either slot can

be used for input/output. Power to Trinity is not necessary for Cat5 DMX signal to pass through.
Note: Max distance between lighting control system and last IPC is 1,000 feet. Longer distances can
be achieved with the use of a repeater.

13) Install termination plug in last IPC in series.

Note: For complete and more technical installation instructions refer to the LumaStream Intelligent
Power Center Application and Installation Manual included with each unit.
