VALVE CARTRIDGE REPLACEMENT
TOOLS NEEDED
! SMALL ”LOCKING GRIP” TYPE PLIERS
! 1/8” HEX KEY WRENCH
PROCEDURE
! Wrap the handle with paper several layers thick to protect the finish, loosen with pliers and remove.
! Using the 1/8 hex key wrench loosen the set screw 1 or 2 turns.
! Remove the valve cover from the splined end of the valve by pulling away from the faucet body. It may be
necessary to “work” the valve cover off of the valve by wiggling up and down while pulling.
! Unscrew the valve cartridge and remove. If the Adapter sleeve stays screwed into the valve body ,
replace only the valve cartridge. If the Adapter sleeve unscrews with the valve, replace both. Use a little dish soap
to lubricate the #20 O-ring . On some valve bodies you might need to push-in while turning to get the threads
to catch. Insert the new cartridge into the body and tighten until snug.
! Slide the valve cover over the valve spline to check alignment of the handle (screw the handle in a couple of turns
and make sure the valve is in the closed position). Tighten the valve accordingly to achieve handle alignment.
! Replace the valve cover all the way onto the valve stem and remove the handle, tighten the set screw securely,
replace the handle and tighten lightly using paper to protect the finish.

VALVE CARTRIDGE REPLACEMENT
TOOLS NEEDED
! 3/8 6-POINT SOCKET DRIVER OR
SMALL ”LOCKING GRIP” TYPE PLIERS
! 13/16” WRENCH
PROCEDURE
Remove the valve cover screw with the socket driver or carefully grab the head of the screw with the locking
pliers being careful not to scratch or damage the finish on the end of the valve cover .
Remove the valve cover from the splined end of the valve by pulling in the same direction the valve cover screw
was removed. It may be necessary to “work” the valve cover off of the valve by wiggling up and down while pulling.
Unscrew the valve cartridge and remove. If the Adapter sleeve stays screwed into the valve body ,
replace only the valve cartridge. If the Adapter sleeve unscrews with the valve, replace both. Use a little dish soap
to lubricate the #20 O-ring . On some valve bodies you might need to push-in while turning to get the threads to
catch. Tighten the valve cartridge until snug and slide the valve cover over the valve spline to check alignment of
the handle (make sure the valve is in the closed position). Tighten the valve accordingly to achieve handle
alignment. Replace the valve cover screw with the new one and tighten lightly, (Hint: placing a piece of paper or
plastic sandwich bag over the end of the socket before pushing it onto the screw-head will help prevent marring
the finish on the screw) DON’T use pliers to tighten the screw.
