Instructions for 909/899 valve stem replacement

Tools needed:

• Replacement Valve Stems

• Spring Plunger Wrench (straight blade driver with hole)

• 1/16 Allen Wrench

• Pliers

1. Unscrew the setscrew on the back of the faucet body with the 1/16 Allen wrench.

2. Pull spout straight up out of faucet, slide valve levers towards the plastic tube and lift to remove.

3. After the handles are removed unscrew the cross-bars on top of the stems, with the plunger
wrench, unscrew the slotted collar retaining each stem, grip top of stem with pliers, pull up to re-
move.

4. Replace the valve stem(s). Screw the slotted collar down until it touches the bottom of the thread,
this is sufficient for proper valve operation, do not tighten.

5. Replace the cross-bars and handles.
Note: When the cross-bars are adjusted properly the ends of the handles will “wiggle” up and down
at least 1/16” (a too tight handle will cause the valve to leak.)

6. Replace the spout and align so the face of the faucet and the spout are at an approximate right
angle, tighten the setscrew.
