Compatibility
If you are having difficulty sending or
receiving a fax due to possible interference
on the phone line, we recommend that you
adjust the Equalization for compatibility to
reduce the modem speed for fax operations.

Press Menu/Set, 2, 0, 1.

Press
▲ or ▼ to select Basic or
Normal (or High*).
(*MFC-7820N only)
Press Menu/Set.

Press Stop/Exit.
Note

Basic reduces the modem speed to 9600
bps. Unless interference is a recurring
problem on your phone line, you may
prefer to use it only when needed.
■
Normal sets the modem speed at 14400
bps.
■
High sets the modem speed at 33600 bps
(MFC-7820N only).
■
When you change the Compatibility to
Basic
, the ECM feature is not available.
Packing and shipping
the MFC
When you transport the MFC, use the
packing materials that came with your MFC.
If you do not pack the MFC properly, you
could void your warranty. The MFC should be
adequately insured with the carrier.

Turn off the MFC’s power switch.

Unplug the MFC from the telephone wall
jack.

Unplug all the cables and AC power
cord from the MFC.

Open the front cover.

Remove the drum unit and toner
cartridge assembly. Leave the toner
cartridge installed in the drum unit.

Place the drum unit and toner cartridge
assembly into the plastic bag and seal
the bag.
7
Close the front cover.

Wrap the MFC in the plastic bag and
place it in the original carton with the
original packing material.
