We trust that you will enjoy the value and quality of your AudioSource IW Five loudspeakers. To make sure
that you experience the best performance out of your speakers, please take a few moments to read this manual
before you get started. Also, be sure to retain this manual should you need to refer to it in the future.
A Few Words about In-Wall Loudspeakers
The AudioSource IW Five loudspeaker is designed to accurately reproduce high fidelity music, including
today’s demanding digital signals. In-wall speakers are designed so that the wall or ceiling itself, and the space
behind it, actually becomes the speaker cabinet. Mounted flush to the wall, the speakers require absolutely no
floor space. The frames and grilles may be painted to blend with the decor. The discreet compact format makes
the IW Five ideal in many applications for which traditional speakers would be impractical or impossible. The
IW Five speakers may be used independently where space is a consideration, or to bring music to additional
rooms of the house. They are especially suited to enhance and enrich home theater systems.
Speaker Placement
Once installed, in-wall speakers are not easily moved or repositioned. Take a little time to carefully consider
the best speaker locations before you begin. Because each room is unique, decide what works best for you.
Unlike traditional speakers, in-wall speakers mount flush and cannot be angled or aimed into the listening area
from the corners of the room. As a general rule, when mounted in a vertical wall, the speakers should be close
to ear level, and at least one-third of the distance from the corner to the center of the room. When mounting
the speakers into the ceiling, keep in mind the position of the listeners, and place the speakers appropriately for
maximum coverage. The tweeter is center-mounted, assuring clean crisp mid and high response.
A mounting depth of three inches, measured from the face of the wall, is required. For the mounting
hardware to work properly, also allow at least one-and-a-half inches of clearance between the cut-out and
any studs or joists. The speaker location and associated mounting hardware should not conflict with any
existing wires or pipes.
