Usage example 2: list available tapes on an un-mounted library, so one can be selected for
checking

ltfsck --device=/dev/sg7

Usage example 3: perform full recovery on a specified tape in a mounted library

ltfsck -b DG6359L5

Available options are:

Specify the barcode of the tape to be checked

-b, --barcode=<tape_bc>

Specify the generation to roll back

-g, --generation=<generation>

Display full index information (effective only for -l option)

-m, --full-index-info

Set traverse mode for listing rollback points. Strategy should be forward
or backward (default=backward)

-v, --traverse=<strategy>

Roll back to the point specified by -g

-r, --rollback

Do not roll back. Verify the point specified by -g (default)

-n, --no-rollback

Recover extra data blocks into directory_ltfs_lostandfound

-f, --full-recovery

Recover EOD missing cartridge.
Some blocks might be erased, but recover to final unmount point with
an index version of at least 2.0.0 or earlier. (Must be used for a
cartridge that cannot be recovered by a normal option.)

-z, --deep-recovery

List rollback points

-l, --list-rollback-points

Erase history at rollback

-j, --erase-history

Keep history at rollback (default)

-k, --keep-history

Suppress informational messages

-q, --quiet

Enable diagnostic output

-a, --trace

Full help, including advanced options

-p, --advanced-help

Enable full function call tracing (slow)

-x, --fulltrace

Capture full index information to the current directory (-g is effective
for this option)

NOTE:

The -z option should only be necessary when a mount operation has failed and ltfs

has advised that deep recovery is required.

Note also that the "erase history" operation cannot be undone, so this option should be used only
when you are sure that you need it.

ltfscap

Report capacity on tape media

Usage: ltfscap <options>

Usage example 1: report capacity on a tape with a known barcode, when the library is not
yet mounted.

ltfscap -m DG6359L5 --device=/dev/sg7
