3 HP P2000 MSA Firmware Update Tool
The Firmware Update Tool simplifies firmware management across multiple MSA arrays from a
single interface. The Firmware Update Tool examines installed firmware versions on discovered
MSA-family arrays and locates available firmware updates and advisories on HP websites. Per
user direction, the tool then downloads and installs the updates on selected arrays.
In addition to helping manage firmware on MSA devices in your environments, the Firmware
Update Tool can consolidate in one location all customer advisories and notifications associated
with the devices.
NOTE: HP recommends running the Firmware Update Tool on a quarterly basis to help ensure
the MSA arrays have access to the latest firmware enhancements and fixes.
The Firmware Update Tool locates and displays information about the following MSA arrays:

HP P2000 G3 Modular Smart Array Systems (P2000 G3 MSA)
•
HP 2000 G2 Modular Smart Array (MSA2000 G2)
•
HP 2000 Modular Smart Array (MSA2000)
Information can be gathered for MSA systems that are across a network and in the local subnet.
Installing the tool
This software tool is delivered as a Smart Component on the HP MSA Software
Support/Documentation DVD or on the HP website. For more information, see
“Installation
instructions for Smart Components” (page 57) .
Accessing the tool
The following access methods are available:
•
Desktop icon—Double-click the HP P2000 MSA Firmware Update Tool icon.
•
HP MSA Software Support/Documentation DVD—Insert the DVD in the server's DVD-ROM
drive, and then, from the DVD main menu, select the Tools tab, scroll through the display, and
select HP P2000 MSA Firmware Update Tool.
