Refreshing host information, including host names and WWNs, does not update storage system
WWN nicknames in HP StorageWorks P9000 Command View Advanced Edition Suite.

If several WWN nicknames (for example, as set on different storage systems) exist for a host HBA,
only one of the nicknames is displayed for that HBA.

In addition to the edit LUN paths dialog, WWN nicknames are displayed in the LUN paths panel
during volume allocation, the LUN paths information panel during volume unallocation, and the
Volumes panel on the Resources tab.

Because allocated volumes belong to a specific host group, the same target host port is set for all
volumes in any given host group. Therefore, when adding or deleting a host port for one or more
volumes, you must select all of the volumes in that host group to maintain consistent LUN path
assignments for all volumes.

Editing LUN paths

You can add and delete LUN paths between storage systems and hosts.

1.

On the Resources tab, expand the storage, hosts, or logical group trees to display volumes.

2.

Select one or more volumes for which you want to edit LUN paths. Selected volumes should belong
to the same host group, and the host group should belong to a single storage system.

3.

From your current tree click Edit LUN Paths, or click More Actions and select Edit LUN Paths to
display the Edit LUN Paths dialog box.

4.

Use the graph or table view to map storage ports to host ports. In both views, you can use links
to view WWN nickname information to confirm the target host bus adapter (HBA).

a.

In graph view, click on a storage port row to add it to the LUN Path Editor panel. Connect
the line to the target HBA. Another line is displayed, which you can connect to another HBA
or discard with a click.

b.

In table view, select a storage port, then a host port row, then click Add to move the mapping
to Selected host Ports panel.

Note that if you add an incorrect mapping you can delete it by clicking on the connector line in
graph view, or using the remove button in table view, or you can cancel the dialog and start
over.

5.

To delete an existing in use path as indicated by a green line in graph view, or by the 'In Use'
state in table view, do the following:

a.

In graph view, click the green line. The line will now be gray and thin.

b.

In table view, select the mapping row and click Remove to change the state from 'In Use' to
'Remove.'

6.

Change any other required settings.

7.

Click Show Plan to review the following:
• Verify the storage, host and mapping information that is displayed.
• Optionally review plan details, update the task name, and enter a description.
• Schedule the task for Now (the default), or for a later Date and Time.
• Check View task status to monitor the task on Tasks & Alerts upon submission.

8.

Click Submit.

9.

On the Tasks & Alerts tab, confirm the task is completed.
If the task is not completed, click the task name for details.
