Event categories

The following table describes the event categories:

Cause of event

Event categories

Threshold monitoring

Monitoring starts when you add a performance object
for threshold monitoring.

Monitoring stops when you remove a performance
object from threshold monitoring.

Monitoring restarts after you modify threshold monitoring
settings (threshold profile or custom threshold profile).

Threshold or custom profile settings are not accessible
for the performance object that should be monitored.

You do any of the following under the Settings > Thresholds
tab:

Threshold Config

Add a threshold profile.

Modify a threshold profile.

Delete a threshold profile.

A delete failure event is logged if you attempt to delete
a threshold profile without first deleting the performance
object that uses it.

An object's performance for a counter exceeds or drops
below the specified Minor and Major threshold levels.

Threshold Alarm

Any of the following happen:

Data collection

State data and performance data collection fails to start
or stop.

State data changes for a performance object.

You do any of the following:

Configuration

Add a performance object for monitoring in HP P6000
Performance Advisor.

Remove a performance object from monitoring in HP
P6000 Performance Advisor.

Modify monitoring settings for a performance object.

Any of the following happen:

Add, modify, or remove monitoring settings for a
performance object fails.

Data collection starts or stops for the storage system.

Data collection fails to start because the storage system
is inaccessible or HP P6000 Performance Advisor is not
able to communicate with HP P6000 Command View
or HP P6000 Performance Data Collector.

Data collection fails to start if the HP P6000 Performance
Advisor database is inaccessible.

Database-related activities, such as database export, data
retrieval failure, or changes to database configuration
settings.

Database Warning and Database Alarm

You create, schedule, email or delete reports.

Report Create, Report Manage, Report Template Create,
Report Template Scheduling

Purge task is initiated, completed, or purging fails.

Purge

Licensing-related activities are performed.
