The volume is mounted on a host where the Device Manager agent has been installed

The volume is being used as a command device

The volume is being used as an S-VOL for Continuous Access XP

The volume is being used as an S-VOL or SP-VOL for Business Copy XP

The volume is being used as a V-VOL or POOL for Snapshot XP

The volume is being used as an on-demand device

The Read/Write permissions have not been set in the LUN Security XP Extension function

The Auto Lun XP attribute has been set

The volume emulation type is not one of the following: OPEN-3, OPEN-8, OPEN-9, OPEN-K, OPEN-E,
OPEN-L, OPEN-M, OPEN-V

The volume size is less than 512 MB

Multiple paths are assigned to the volume

4-5-2-4 Notes on Deleting File Systems

Even if a file system is deleted, the mount point directory remains. Use the OS command to manually delete
the directory if no longer necessary.

Provisioning Manager cannot delete the following file systems:

The type of file system that is to be deleted is neither ext2 nor ext3

Logical Volume Manager is not being used

The logical volume that is mounted at the specified mount point is a snapshot volume

There is a snapshot volume for the logical volume that is mounted at the specified mount point

Other processing is using the file system to be deleted

There is more than one mount point for the file system to be deleted

# The file systems can be expanded; however, an attempt to delete a file system will result in a run-time
error.

Multiple file systems have been mounted on the same directory

4-5-2-5 Notes on Adding Device Files

In the following case, the device file is not added:

The type of the volume manager used in the applicable file system is not Logical Volume Manager

Volumes that satisfy one of the following conditions cannot be used for device file addition:

The volume manager is using that volume on a host where the Device Manager agent has been installed

The volume is mounted on a host where the Device Manager agent has been installed

The volume is being used as a command device

The volume is being used as an S-VOL for Continuous Access XP

The volume is being used as an S-VOL or SP-VOL for Business Copy XP

The volume is being used as a V-VOL or POOL for Snapshot XP

The volume is being used as an on-demand device

The Read/Write permissions have not been set in the LUN Security XP Extension function

The Auto Lun XP attribute has been set

The volume emulation type is not one of the following: OPEN-3, OPEN-8, OPEN-9, OPEN-K, OPEN-E,
OPEN-L, OPEN-M, OPEN-V

4-5-2-6 Notes on Displayed Host Information

When the host OS is Linux, configure the volumes and devices in accordance with

4-5-3

. If the volumes and

devices are configured in a different pattern, the host information might not be displayed correctly.

Provisioning Manager cannot display md devices. For notes on using md devices, see section
