Monitoring Status Information

Tape Drive Status

Table 6-1 summarizes tape drive status messages that might appear on the tape
library status screen.

Status Messages

Explanation

INIT REQUIRED

You must initialize the tape drive.

NOT CONNECTED

This tape drive is not connected to a SCSI bus.

UNKNOW DRIVE

The tape library does not recognize the type of tape drive
in this location.

NOT COMMUNICATE

This tape drive is not communicating with the client, or the
tape drive is powered off.

NOT FUNCTIONAL

This tape drive is not functioning properly.

NOT LOADABLE

The tape library cannot load a cartridge into this tape
drive.

CARTRIDGE IN

The tape drive contains a tape cartridge, but the tape
cartridge is loaded in this tape drive.

CLEAN NEEDED

This tape drive requires cleaning.

CLEAN FAILED

The attempt to clean this tape drive failed.

LOADING

The tape library is mounting a cartridge into this tape
drive.

REWOUND

The cartridge in this tape drive has been rewound.

UNLOADING

The tape library is dismounting a cartridge into this tape
drive.

LOADED

The tape library has loaded a cartridge into this tape
drive.

REWINDING

The cartridge in this tape drive is being rewound.

BUSY

This tape drive is performing a read or write operation.

CLEANING

The tape drive is being cleaned.

Note. The operator panel displays only 16 lines per screen. If the tape library contains more
than 8 tape drives, you must use the down arrow button to scroll to drive 09 and higher.
