Enabling/disabling Job Accounting

Enabling Job Accounting

1. From SyncThru™ Admin 5, click Job Accounting menu > Devices > Devices Settings > Device List.
2. Select the device(s) you want to enable job accounting.

Please make sure that JAC State is Disabled. You can see the details in Devices History (See "Device
History" on page 23
).

If the JAC State is already Enabled, the operation will show success.

If JAC State is Occupied, then the operation will fail

If JAC State is Disabled and the operation fails, there may be two possible reasons why:

-

The device does not support Job Accounting or device is not responding properly.

-

The device is already occupied by some other SyncThru (SyncThru updates the JAC state every 30
minutes).

3. From the Job Accounting Settings panel, check Enable/Disable Job Accounting.
4. Check Enable Access Control and select the option: Use Default Access Code or Use Custom Access Code.

Default is Use Default Access Code.

If you want to use your own access code, select Use Custom Access Code and type in the Custom
Code
you want to use. Or, you can change the default code in Settings menu > Job accounting (See
"Settings menu" on page 41).

The access code is used for preventing unauthorized access to the device.

5. Click OK/Apply.

You can see the result in the Devices History (See "Device History" on page 23).
Or you can check the result in the JAC State column after refreshing the Devices List.

Disabling Job Accounting

1. From SyncThru™ Admin 5, click Job Accounting menu > Devices > Devices Settings > Device List.
2. Select the device(s) for which you want to disable job accounting.

Make sure that JAC State is Enabled or Occupied. If the JAC State is Disabled , the operation will fail. You
can see the details in Devices History (See "Device History" on page 23).

3. From the Job Accounting Settings panel, check Enable/Disable Job Accounting.
4. Uncheck Enable Access Control and select the option.

Please make sure that the access code is correct. You need to enter the access code that has been
configured when Job Accounting was enabled.

5. Click OK/Apply.

You can see the result in the Devices History (See "Device History" on page 23).
Or you can check the result in the JAC State column after refreshing the Devices List.

When you disable Job Accounting for a specific device(s), that device(s) does not display a login window. A
device(s) with Job Accounting disabled will not keep the Job Accounting users, which means you will need
to configure all the users and permissions in the future if you want to use Job Accounting for the device
again.
