Understanding the Display Screen

Portrait Mode

With the QWERTY keypad closed and with the phone in its upright
position, the display defaults to Portrait mode.

1.

This portion of the top
line of your phone’s
display contains icons
that indicate conditions
with notifications.

2.

This is the Google
Search widget that you
can use to search your
phone and the Web.

3.

The center portion of the
display shows Shortcuts
and Widgets and
information such as call
progress information,
messages, and photos.

4.

The Home Page Navigation Node indicates how many
Home Page panels you can navigate to on the left or right
of the displayed panel. Touch the node to move one panel.

5.

This is the Apps shortcut. Touch it to open the Apps menu.

6.

This portion of the top line of your phone’s display contains
icons that indicate network status, battery power, signal
strength, connection type, and more.

Landscape Mode

With the
QWERTY
keypad open,
the display
rotates
automatically
from Portrait
mode (as
shown above)
to Landscape
mode (as shown here).

Note: You can also rotate many of the screens that appear in the display from

Portrait mode to Landscape mode, without opening the QWERTY
keypad, by rotating the phone.
