Using soft flash

When taking a portrait with the flash in the dark indoor environment, a shadow may

be cast upon the subject. In this case, you can take photos by raising the flash to

reflex the light off the ceiling or wall, not pointing directly at the subject. Then, the

shadow cast upon the subject will disappear, allowing you get a soft portrait with

the light evenly spread on the scene.

On the Home screen, scroll to <Basic>.

Soft Flash.

Raise the flash.

Do not forcibly raise the flash to prevent it from being damaged.

The flash may not fire if the subject or the background is brightly lit.

Adjusting the ISO sensitivity

The ISO sensitivity is the measure of a film’s sensitivity to light as defined by the

International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The higher ISO sensitivity you

select, the more sensitive to light your camera becomes. Use a higher ISO sensitivity

to capture better photos and reduce camera shake when not using the flash.

to use an appropriate ISO sensitivity based on the brightness of

the subject and lighting.

Higher ISO sensitivities may result in more image noise.
