Reducing the Ambient Noise
(Noise Canceling)
(NWZ-S736F/S738F/S739F only)
The internal microphone of the headphones can catch the ambient noise. It
reduces noise by outputting an antiphase sound against the noise.
NOISE CANCELING switch
Note
 If headphones other than those supplied are used, the Noise Canceling function will not
work even if the NOISE CANCELING switch is slid in the direction of the arrow .

Slide the NOISE CANCELING switch in the direction of the arrow .
In the “Now Playing” screen, appears at the bottom right of the screen.

Hints
 is displayed on the “Now Playing” screen of the songs or videos, or the FM radio
screen.
 When the Noise canceling function is active, is displayed on the screen.
If the headphones other than those supplied are used, the Noise Canceling function will
not work even if the NOISE CANCELING switch is slid in the direction of the arrow
. In this case, is displayed at the bottom right of the screen.
 You can adjust the effect of the Noise Canceling function. For details, see “Adjusting the
Effect of the Noise Canceling Function (Noise Cancel level)” ( page 108).
