Both a UK and a Continental power cord are supplied with the AC adapter. Use
the UK version only in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The continental one can
be used in all other countries.
Use the speaker cradle only with the supplied AC adapter. To disconnect your
speaker cradle completely from main voltage, unplug the AC adapter.
Please make sure that the socket outlet is easily accessible.

following areas: residential, commercial and light industrial.
This product has been tested and found compliant with the limits set out in the

Before use
This unit is the Speaker cradle designed for the Sony Personal Entertainment
Organizer (mentioned as CLIÉ handheld after this). Place your CLIÉ handheld on
the cradle to listen to music played back on the CLIÉ handheld through the
cradle's built-in speakers. The CLIÉ handheld can be recharged during playback,
and HotSync can be performed with the optional USB cable.
For details on how to play music, please read the Operating Instructions
provided with your CLIÉ handheld and this Operating Instructions.

To connect your CLIÉ handheld to the cradle.

To synchronize the data in your CLIÉ handheld with the data saved on your
computer.

To select the sound output from the speakers.
CLIE: Select to play back the CLIÉ handheld, connected to the
Interface connector of the cradle.
OFF: No sound is heard from the speakers.
AUDIO IN: Select to play back equipment connected to the AUDIO IN
terminal on the rear of the cradle.

To connect a portable audio player, or a CLIÉ handheld with an audio player
equipped with OS 4.1.
8 DC IN terminal
To connect the supplied AC adapter.
9 USB terminal
To connect this unit and the USB terminal of a personal computer with the
optional USB HotSync cable for CLIÉ handheld.
How to listen to music
Before operation
First set the INPUT switch to OFF before placing your CLIÉ handheld on the
cradle, as high volume may result and damage the unit.
1 Connect the AC adapter to the DC IN terminal at the
rear of this unit.
2 Place your CLIÉ handheld on this unit.
Note
Insert the CLIÉ handheld correctly in the cradle as a poor connection may
cause a malfunction.
3 Set the INPUT switch to CLIE.
4 Start playback music on your CLIÉ handheld.
For details on how to play music, please read the Operating Instructions
provided with your CLIÉ handheld.
Adjust the volume on your CLIÉ handheld.
After listening
Set the INPUT switch to OFF.
To listen to music on the CLIÉ handheld with the audio
player equipped with OS 4.1
1 Connect the AC adapter to this unit and place CLIÉ handheld on it.
2 Connect the headphones jack of CLIÉ handheld and the AUDIO IN terminal
of this unit with the optional connecting cable RK-G136 (stereo mini plug
y
stereo mini plug) for example.
3 Set the INPUT switch to AUDIO IN.
4 Start playback music on your CLIÉ handheld.
When the sound from the speakers is interrupted or
undesired noise is generated
• Turn down the volume, or quit applications other than playback. When
running other applications on your CLIÉ handheld during high volume
playback, sound may be interrupted or undesired noise may be generated due
to a subsequent voltage drop.
• If you are using the cellular phone near this unit, move the cellular phone
away from it.
• When the INPUT switch of the speaker cradle is set to CLIE, and the CLIÉ
handheld is performing wireless communication, noise may be generated
from the speakers.
In this case, move the antenna of the communication card if possible, or
move any nearby metal object away from the unit. If the unit is still noisy,
set the INPUT switch to OFF during communication to mute the sound
output to the speakers.
Performing a HotSync
operation
Connect the USB terminal of the cradle to a personal computer using the optional
USB HotSync cable for CLIÉ handheld. Then press the HotSync button on this
unit.
The HotSync operation starts to synchronize the data in your CLIÉ handheld
with the data saved on your computer.
Tip
Even when the INPUT switch is set to OFF, a HotSync operation or battery
recharge can be performed.
Note
Before performing a HotSync operation with a personal computer, install Palm
Desktop for CLIÉ software into it. For details, please read the Operating
Instructions provided with your CLIÉ handheld.

Notes on use
• Do not subject the unit to:
– Extreme heat or cold
– Dust, dirt, or sand
– High humidity
– Vibration
– Strong magnetic fields
– Mechanical shock
– Direct sunlight (for extended periods of time)
• Do not drop the unit.
• Unplug the AC adapter from the AC outlet when not in use for an extended
period of time. To disconnect the power cord, pull it out by the plug. Never
pull the cord itself.
• Be sure that nothing metallic comes into contact with the metal parts of this
unit. If this happens, a short circuit may occur and the unit may be damaged.
• Do not operate the unit if it has a damaged cord or if it has been dropped or
damaged.
• Always keep the metal contacts clean.
• Do not disassemble or modify the unit.
• While the unit is in use, it gets warm. This is normal.
• Keep the unit away from TV or AM receivers, as it may disturb reception.
• When the audio output of the personal computer connected to the USB
terminal of this unit is connected to the AUDIO IN terminal of this unit, noise
may be generated from the speakers. This is not a malfunction.
Cleaning
Clean the unit with a soft, dry cloth or a soft cloth lightly moistened with a mild
detergent solution. Do not use any type of solvent, such as alcohol or benzine,
which may damage the finish.

Avant l’utilisation
Cette station d’accueil avec haut-parleurs est destinée à l’assistant personnel CLIÉ
de Sony (désigné simplement sous le nom CLIÉ dans la suite de ce document).
Placez votre CLIÉ sur la station d’accueil pour écouter de la musique via les haut-
parleurs intégrés de la station d’accueil. Le CLIÉ peut être rechargé en cours de
lecture et la procédure HotSync peut être réalisée à l’aide du câble USB optionnel.
Pour plus d’informations sur les fonctionnalités audio, consultez le mode
d’emploi fourni avec votre CLIÉ, ainsi que le présent mode d’emploi.

CLIE : Sélectionnez cette option pour activer le son sur le CLIÉ
raccordé au connecteur d’interface de la station d’accueil.
OFF : Les haut-parleurs n’émettent aucun son.
AUDIO IN : Sélectionnez cette option pour activer le son sur
l’équipement raccordé à la borne AUDIO IN, à l’arrière de la
station d’accueil.

Permet de raccorder un lecteur audio portable ou un ordinateur de poche
CLIÉ doté d’un lecteur audio équipé du système d’exploitation 4.1.

Permet de raccorder l’adaptateur secteur fourni.
9 Borne USB
Permet de raccorder cet appareil à la borne USB d’un ordinateur à l’aide du
câble HotSync USB optionnel du CLIÉ.
Comment écouter de la musique
Préparatifs
Réglez tout d’abord le commutateur INPUT sur OFF avant de placer votre CLIÉ
sur la station d’accueil, car un son émis à volume élevé risquerait d’endommager
l’appareil.
1 Raccordez l’adaptateur secteur à la borne DC IN, à
l’arrière de cet appareil.
2 Placez votre CLIÉ sur cet appareil.
Remarque
Insérez correctement le CLIÉ dans la station d’accueil, car une mauvaise
connexion pourrait entraîner un dysfonctionnement.
3 Réglez le commutateur INPUT sur CLIE.
4 Commencez à écouter votre musique sur le CLIÉ.
Pour plus d’informations sur l’écoute de musique, consultez le mode
d’emploi fourni avec CLIÉ.
Réglez le volume sur votre CLIÉ.
Après l’écoute
Réglez le commutateur INPUT sur OFF.
Pour écouter de la musique sur l’ordinateur de poche
CLIÉ doté d’un lecteur audio équipé du système
d’exploitation 4.1.
1 Raccordez l’adaptateur secteur à cet appareil et placez le CLIÉ dessus.
2 Raccordez la prise de casque du CLIÉ et la borne AUDIO IN de cet appareil à
l’aide du câble de raccordement optionnel RK-G136 (mini fiche stéréo
y
mini fiche stéréo), par exemple.
3 Réglez le commutateur INPUT sur AUDIO IN.
4 Commencez à écouter votre musique sur le CLIÉ.
En cas d’interruption du son en provenance des haut-
parleurs ou d’émission de parasites.
• Baissez le volume ou quittez toutes les applications, exceptée celle de
lecture. Lorsque d’autres applications sont ouvertes sur votre CLIÉ lors
d’une lecture à volume élevé, le son risque d’être interrompu ou des
parasites gênants peuvent être émis suite à une baisse de tension.
• Si vous utilisez un téléphone cellulaire à proximité de cet appareil,
éloignez-le.
• Lorsque le commutateur INPUT de la station d’accueil des haut-parleurs
est réglé sur CLIE alors que l’ordinateur de poche CLIÉ effectue une
communication sans fil, il est possible que les haut-parleurs émettent des
parasites.
Dans ce cas, déplacez l’antenne de la carte de communication ou éloignez
tous les objets métalliques de cet appareil. Si l’appareil continue à émettre
des parasites, réglez le commutateur INPUT sur OFF pour couper la sortie
via les haut-parleurs.
Procédure HotSync
Raccordez la borne USB de la station d’accueil à l’ordinateur à l’aide du câble HotSync
USB optionnel de votre CLIÉ. Appuyez ensuite sur le bouton HotSync de cet appareil.
La procédure HotSync commence la synchronisation des données de votre CLIÉ
avec celles enregistrées sur votre ordinateur.
Conseil
Même si le commutateur INPUT est réglé sur OFF, vous pouvez tout de même
lancer une procédure HotSync ou une recharge de la pile.
Remarque
Avant de réaliser une procédure HotSync avec un ordinateur, installez le logiciel
Palm Desktop for CLIÉ. Pour plus d’informations, consultez le mode d’emploi
fourni avec votre CLIÉ.
