Locating a scene on a
tape for playback
Searching quickly for a particular
scene
— Multi-picture search
You can display thumbnails of all the
beginning scenes of moving pictures
recorded on the tape on the index screen.
(You can display a maximum of 11
thumbnails on one index screen.)
The thumbnails described in this section are
still images of the beginning scenes of each
recorded moving picture and thumbnails of
still images to help you search for a desired
scene easily. When you select the thumbnail
you want to play back, your camcorder starts
searching for the image or scene and plays it
back automatically.

Slide the POWER switch repeatedly to
select the PLAY/EDIT mode.

Touch .

Touch [MULTI-SEARCH].
If the item is not displayed on the screen,
touch
/ . If you cannot find it, touch
MENU, then select it from the (EDIT/
PLAY) menu.

Press / to select the direction
in which to scan.
Your camcorder starts scanning in the
selected direction. If you select
, the
scan starts with the thumbnails that are
displayed in the upper left-hand corner, and
if you select
, the scan starts with the
thumbnails displayed in the bottom right-
hand corner.
When scanning is completed, it stops
automatically and the upper left-hand
window turns black.

Touch the thumbnail you want to cue
the tape to, then touch [SRCH] or
touch the thumbnail again.
Your camcorder starts searching for the
image or scene and plays it back
automatically.
When you want to change the thumbnail,
touch
, touch the thumbnail you want to
cue the tape to, then touch [SRCH] or touch
the thumbnail again.
The orange portion of the bar indicates the
scanning range and the pale blue portion of
the bar indicates the recorded portion.
To return to the [MULTI-SEARCH]
screen from the playback screen
Touch .
To stop the Multi-picture search
Touch [PAUSE].
To stop the operation
Press [END].
b Notes
• If the tape has a blank section between recorded
sections, the Multi-picture search function may not
work correctly.
• The maximum number of thumbnails that can be
stored on one cassette is about 400.
• While using the Multi-picture search function, you
cannot use any other functions.
