Installing an additional hard disk drive
1. Shut down your computer and turn off all peripheral devices, such as your printer.
2. Unplug your computer and any peripheral devices.
3. Gently place the unit on its side and remove the side panel. See About Opening the Computer
Certain VAIO ® computers require you to configure the jumpers on the new drive as a slave. Follow the configuration
instructions supplied with your new hard disk drive.
If your computer has a Serial ATA (SATA) hard disk drive, you do not need to configure the new drive. See your
computer's specifications sheet for details about the installed hard disk drive.
4. Detach the power and drive cables from the original hard disk drive that is preinstalled in your computer.
5. Unlock the drive holder from the chassis by lifting the drive holder handle straight out from the unit.
6. Use the handle to slide the drive holder out.

7. Slide the new drive into the drive holder and align the holes on each side of the drive bay.
8. Secure the drive to the drive holder with screws, through the holes on each side of the drive holder.
