FRONT PANEL LEDs
POWER ● ● Off Both -48V fuses blown, power not supplied to the shelf, or
incorrect polarity on the voltage supplied to the shelf
● Green Power supplied is the correct voltage and polarity; backplane
and hot insertion voltages correct
● Amber -48 V input and hot insertion voltage present; no backplane
voltage
● Red -48 V input present; no backplane voltage and no hot
insertion voltage

FUNCTIONALITY
The Total Access 4303 DC Power Supply furnishes the voltages necessary for proper
backplane operation. The DC Power Supply also provides the voltages that enable hot
insertion of the option cards and SCUs. The DC Power Supply does not, however,
provide the voltages necessary to power individual option cards or the SCUs as each
card has itís own DC-DC supply.
In addition, the DC Power Supply in slot PS-A provides alarm relay output
functionality. If only one DC Power Supply is used, place the DC Power Supply in
PS-A to provide alarm relay facilities. The DC Power Supply, as well as all Total Access
4303 option modules and SCUs, has protection against the wrong voltage polarity
being applied to the shelf.

INSTALLATION
■ Insert the module into either the slot labeled PS-A or PS-B .
■ When power is supplied to the shelf, verify that the Power LED is green.
■ If power is supplied to the shelf and the Power LED does not illuminate, remove
power and verify polarity.
■ To verify one or both -48V supply voltages, use the SCU terminal menus (see SCU
Job Aid, 61200334L1-22) and navigate the following path:
System Status/System Alarms/-48V Bus

COMPLIANCE
The Total Access 4303 DC Power Supply is NRTL listed to the applicable UL
standards. The Total Access DC Power Supply is to be installed in a restricted access
location and in a Type “B” or “E” enclosure only.
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules. Operation is subject to the
following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and
(2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that
may cause undesired operation.
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by ADTRAN could void the user’s
authority to operate this equipment.
WARRANTY
Warranty for Carrier Networks products manufactured by ADTRAN and supplied
under Buyer’s order for use in the U.S. is ten (10) years. For a complete copy of
