Examples of each report available in the SAM 935 are included here with an explanation of their contents.

7.1

Area Monitor Report of Alarms

The area monitor report lists information about alarms. You get this report by pressing F3 while in review
mode on the monitoring display (if F3 is labelled P

RN

S

EL

). Only the stored alarm that is currently displayed

will be printed.

7.2

Background Report

The background report is a simple report since it gives only system setup information and gross counts. It
is useful to get a “full” report, which prints out the background spectrum. Normally there should be no
peaks in a background spectrum. The presence of peaks indicates either contamination in or on the detec-
tor or radioactive material in the vicinity of the detector whose radiation are not being stopped by whatever
shielding may be present.
