Schwank Elbow Kit - Manual

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
JS-0508-UL - UHE / EIH: 90° AND 180° ELBOW KITS
The UHE / EIH Series elbow kit is supplied with:
 90° Aluminized steel elbow
 4” Tube coupler
 Reflector cap
 Assembly nuts and bolts
 For a 180° elbow: assemble two 90° elbow kits
90° ELBOW KIT ASSEMBLY
1. Install the straight tube system from the burner to the location of the elbow.
 60,000: elbow at minimum 10 ft from burner
 Location for other inputs:
o 90,000 and 130,000: elbow minimum 20 ft from burner
o 160,000 and 200,000: elbow minimum 30 ft from burner
2. To install the elbow in the system, one tube coupler is supplied with tube kit and one
coupler is supplied with the elbow kit
3. Slacken the bolts on one coupler and slide coupler over the swaged end of the tube
run from burner
4. Slide the elbow on to the swaged end of the tube
run from burner.
5. At this time, just snug the coupler at this connection
to hold the elbow in a horizontal position.
6. Slacken the bolts on next coupler and slide coupler over the swaged end of the
elbow.
7. Install the hangers and next straight tube downstream of the elbow, and slide tube
onto the swaged end of the elbow.
8. Check that tubes each side of elbow are level along their length.
9. Locate couplers half way over tube joints to elbow and tighten both couplers using
40 ft/lb torque on the bolts.
10. Install insulated reflectors on the tubes upstream and downstream of the elbow.
11. Install the elbow reflector cover:
 Use three machine screws and nuts
supplied with tube kit reflectors to fasten
elbow cover to upstream reflector
 Use three machine screws and nuts
supplied with elbow kit to fasten elbow
cover to downstream reflector
12. Install a second 90° elbow for 180° elbow
