Application When applying gypsum sheathing, joints shall be staggered and not aligned with the corners of openings.
When required install 1 Љ x 4Љ diagonal corner braces, or equal, at all external corners, let into face of studs,
corner posts, sill and plates, or as required by applicable code.
Apply 1/2 Љ x 24Љ x 8Ј S
HEETROCK Brand Gypsum Sheathing horizontally with face side out (paper on back is lapped at
edges). Place tongue edge up to prevent water penetration at joints. Use diagonal bracing necessary.
Space 1-3/4
Љ 11-ga. galvanized nails 8Љ o.c. at each stud.
Apply 1/2
Љ or 5/8Љ x 48Љ x 8Ј or 9Ј S
HEETROCK Brand Gypsum Sheathing vertically with face side out.
Space nails 8
Љ o.c. on framing members.
For staple or screw application, use same fastener spacing as above. Drive staples parallel to long dimension
of framing, heads flush with sheathing surface but not breaking face paper.
