DOOR CAP HEATER REPLACEMENT


Replacing the anti-condensate heater element around door cap of hinged walk-in door panel.


1. Disconnect the 120 volt outside power source leading to the door frame light junction box.
2. Remove door cap from door frame using the following steps:
A. Disconnect crossover cord at light junction box.
B. Remove screws that mount the hinges to the door frame (Make sure there is enough personnel to handle door cap)
C. Disengage the door cap from door latch and remove door from door frame and lay on flat working surface face down.

D. A large piece of cardboard or plywood can be used to close off the open doorway until the door cap is remounted.
3. Remove stainless steel caps located at each corner of the door cap by carefully prying off with a common screwdriver

(see illustration). These caps are located at the top and bottom edges of door cap.

4. Pull crossover cord and old healer element wires thru hole and

disconnect the respective wire splices.

5. Pull up gasket from corners of door cap and clear putty from channel.

Connect old heater element end with new heater element and begin

pulling thru from opposite corner in direction shown.

6. After new heater element is in place make splices to crossover cord.
7. Make sure the heater element ends (at splice) do not

touch. Pack with permagum before replacing caps.

8. Align door cap in door frame with shims and replace

hinge mounting screws. Reconnect cross over cord

to light junction box.

9. Reconnect the 120 volt source to light junction box.
10. Check door for proper operation and seal.
