z Turn off the printer.
z Open the printer’s cover.
z Remove the paper left inside the printer.
z Press the
POWER
button to turn the printer back on. The printer is now
ready for printing.
z If the platen is soiled, wipe
it
clean with a dry cloth. See Cleaning the
Printer on page 4-3 for details.

If your ink tanks seem to run out of ink before you think they should, make sure
you are following these guidelines.
z Turn off the printer only when the print head unit is in the home position.
When in the home position, the print head unit is capped; this protects the
print head nozzles and ink cartridges from damage or drying out.
z Only transport the printer when the print head unit is in the home position
z Never unplug the printer or turn off a power strip to which the printer is
attached when the printer’s power is turned on.
z Try not to clean the print head unit unnecessarily. The print head cleaning
procedure consumes a small amount of ink.
z Do not unplug the printer unnecessarily. The printer performs the print
head cleaning operation, which uses a small amount of ink, every time
you plug it in.
z Do not print documents with solid background colors. This consumes an
excessive amount of ink.
