Installing the Switch (Magnet Mount)

To mount a switch by using the magnet, follow these steps:

Step 1

Place one side of the magnet against the bottom of the switch, as shown in

Step 2

Mount the magnet and switch on a metal surface.

Connecting to an SFP Module

This section describes how to connect to an SFP module. For instructions about how to install or remove
an SFP module, see the Cisco Small Form-Factor Pluggable Modules Installation Notes (order number
DOC-7815160=) and to the documentation that came with your SFP module.

Caution

Do not remove the rubber plugs from the ports on fiber-optic SFP modules or the rubber caps from the
the fiber-optic cable until you are ready to connect the cable. The plugs and caps protect the SFP module
ports and cables from contamination and ambient light.

Before connecting to an SFP module, be sure that you understand the port and cabling stipulations in

Table 1-2

and in the

“SFP Module Slot” section on page 1-4

for information about the LC on the SFP modules for fiber-optic connections.
