Sound

There is no sound.

Check that the player is connected securely.

^ The audio connecting cord is damaged. Replace it

with a new one.

^ Make sure you connect the player to the audio

input connectors on the receiver (amplifier) (page
10

).

^ Make sure you turn on the W and the receiver

(amplifier).

Make sure you select the appropriate position on
the receiver (amplifier) so that you can listen to the
sound from the player.

^ The player is in pause mode or in Slow-mohon

Play mode. Press O to return to normal play
mode.
Fast forward (FFl or FF2) or fast reverse (FRl or
FR2) is performed. Press O to return to normal

play mode.

^ Check the speaker connections and settings (page

12, 51). Refer to the operating manual of your
receiver (amplifier).

When you play the Dolby Digital (AC-3) sound
tracks and attempt to output from the DIGITAL

OUT connectors, set "DIGITAL OUT" to "ON" in
the setup display. Otherwise no sound will come
out from the DIGITAL OLIT connectors (page 49).

^ When you play the DTS sound tracks, no sound

will come out from the LINE OUT, 5.1CH
OUTPUT (FRONT L/R) and PHONES connectors

(page 50).

Sound noise is heard.

^ Clean the disc.
^ When you play the DTS sound tracks on a CD,

sound noise wUl come out from the LINE OUT,
5.1CH OUTPUT (FRONT L/R) and PHONES
connectors (page 50).

Sound distortion occurs.

^ In the setup display, set "AUDIO ATT" in "AUDIO

SETUP" to "ON."

The sound loses stereo effect when you play a
VIDEO CD or a CD.

Set "AUDIO" to "STEREO (1/L 2/R)" in the
Control Menu display (page 29).
Make sure you connect the player appropriately
(page 8,10,12).

The surround effect is difficult to hear when you
are playing a Dolby Digital (AC-3) sound track.

^ Check the speaker connections and settings (page

12, 51). Refer to the operating manual of your

receiver (amplifier).

^ Depending on the DVD, the output signal may not

be the entire 5.1 charmel but monaural or stereo
even if the sound track is recorded in Dolby Digital

(AC-3) format.

The sound comes from the center speaker only.

Depending on the disc, the sound may come from
the center speaker only.

^ Set "VES" to "OFF" in the Control Menu display

(page 32).

Operation

The remote does not function.

^ Remove any obstacles between the remote and the

player.

^ Use the remote near the player.
^ Pomt the remote at the remote sensor @ on the

plaver.

^ Replace all the batteries in the remote with new

ones if they are weak.

^ If vou operate the player from the TV using the S-

link connection, connect the S-lLnk plug to the S-
link connector of the TV (page 8).

The disc does not play.

“♦ "There is no disc inside ("Insert disc." appears on

the T\' screen),

insert a disc.

^ Insert the disc correctly with the playback side

facing down on the disc tray.
Clean the disc.

^ The player cannot play CD-ROMs, etc. (page 5).

Insert a DVD, a VIDEO CD, or a CD.

^ Check the region code of the DVD (page 4).
^ Moisture has condensed inside the player. Remove

the disc and leave the player turned on for about
half an hour (page 6).

The player does not play from the beginning
when playing a disc.

^ Repeat Play, Shuffle Play or Program Play has been

selected. Press CLEAR (page 34 to 38).

“♦ Resume Play has been selected.

Press ■ on the front panel or on the remote before
vou start playing (page 18).
