Sound

There is no sound.

^ Check that the player is connected securely.

^ The audio connecting cord is damaged. Replace it

with a new one.

Make sure you connect the player to the audio

input connectors on the receiver (amplifier), (page

10

)

Make sure vou turn on the TV and the receiver

(amplifier).

^ Make sure you select the appropriate position on

the receiver (amplifier) so that vou can listen to the

sound from the player.

The player is in pause mode or in Slow-motion

Play mode. Press O to return to normal play

mode.

^ Fast forward (FFl or FF2) or fast rei'erse (FRl or

FR2) is performed. Press O to return to normal

play mode.

^ Check the speaker connections and settings, (page

12, 58) Refer to the operating manual of your

receiver (amplifier).

When vou plav the Dolbv Digital (AC-3) sound

tracks and attempt to output from the DIGITAL

OUT connectors, set "DIGITAL OLT" to "ON" in

the setup display. Otherwise no sound will come

out trom the DIGIIAL OUT connectors, (page 5o)

When vou play the DTS sound tracks, no sound

will come out from the LINE OLTT, 5.1CH

OUTPUT (FRONT L/R) and PHONES connectors,

(page 56)

Sound noise is heard.

Clean the disc.

^ When you play the DTS sound tracks on a CD,

soimd noise will come out from the LINE OUT

Sound distortion occurs.

In the setup display, set "AUDIO ATT" in "AUDIO

SETUP" to "ON."

The sound loses stereo effect when you play a

VIDEO CD or a CD.

Set "AUDIO" to "STEREO (1/L 2/R)" in the

Control Menu display, (page 31)

Make sure you connect the player appropriately.

The surround effect is difficult to hear when you
are playing a Dolby Digital (AC-3) sound track.

^ Check the speaker connections and settings, (page

12, 58) Refer to the operating manual of your

receiver (amplifier).

Depending on the DVD, the output signal may not

be the entire 5.1 channel but monaural or stereo

even if the sound track is recorded in Dolby Digital

(AC-3) format.

The sound comes from the center speaker only.

^ Depending on the disc, the sound may come from

the center speaker only.

^ Set "VIRTUAL 3D SURROUND" to "OFF" in the

Control Menu display, (page 34)

Operation

The remote does not function.

Remov^e anv obstacles betw'een the remote and the

player.

Use the remote near the player.

Point the remote at the remote sensor 0 on the

plaver.

Replace all the batteries in the remote with new

ones if they are weak.
If vou operate the plaver from the TV using the S-

link conncchon, connect the S-link plug to the S-

Imk connector of the TV. (page 8)

The disc does not play.

There is no disc mside ("Insert drsc." appears on

the T\' screen).

Insert a disc.

^ In.sert the disc correctly with the playback side

facing down on the disc tray.

Clean the disc.
The player cannot play CD-ROMs, etc. (page 5)

Insert a DVD, a VIDEO CD, or CD.

^ Check the region code of the DVD. (page 4)

Moisture has condensed inside the player. Remove

the disc and leave the player turned on for about

half an hour, (page-6)

The player does not play from the beginning

when playing a disc.

^ Repeat Play, Shuffle Play or Program Play has been

selected. Press CLEAR, (page 36 to 40)

^ Resume Play has been selected.

Press ■ on the front panel or on the remote before

you start playing, (page 18)
