Sound

There is no sound.

Check tliat the player is connected securely.
The audio connecting cord is damaged. Replace it

with a new one.
Make sure ) ou connect the player to the audio
input connectors on the receix er (amplifier) (page

10

).

^ Make sure \'ou turn on the TV and tire receix'er

(amplifier).

^ Make sure you selecf the appropriate position on

the receix’er (amplifier) so that you can listen to the
sound from the player.

^ The player is in pause mode or in Slow-motion

Play mode. Press C> to return to normal play
mode.

^ Fast forward (FFl or FF2) or fasf reverse (FRl or

FR2) is performed. Press C> to return to normal
play mode.

^ Check the speaker comrections and settings (pages

12, 59). Refer to the operating manual of your

receiver (amplifier).

^ When you play the Dolby Digital sound tracks and

attempt to output from the DIGITAL OUT
cormectors, set "DIGITAL OUT" to "ON" in the
setup display. Otherwise no sound will come out
from fhe DIGITAL OUT connectors (page 58).

^ When you play the DTS sound tracks, no sound

will come out from the LINE OUT, 5.1CH
OUTPUT and PHONES connectors (page 59).

Sound noise is heard.

Clean the disc.

^ When you play the DTS sound tracks on a CD,

sound noise will come out from the LINE OUT,
5.1CH OUTPUT and PHONES connectors (page
59).

Sound distortion occurs.

^ In the setup display, set "AUDIO ATT" in "AUDIO

SETUP" to "ON" (page 57).

The sound ioses stereo effect when you play a
VIDEO CD or a CD.

^ Set "AUDIO" to "STEREO" in the Control Menu

display (page 33).

^ Make sure you connect the player appropriately

(pages 8,10,12).

The surround effect is difficult to hear when you
are playing a Dolby Digital sound track.

^ Check the speaker comrections and settings (pages

12, 59). Refer to the operating manual of your
receiver (amplifier).
Depending on the DVD, the output signal may not

be the entire 5.1 channel but monaural or stereo
even if the sound track is recorded in Dolby Digital

format.

The sound comes from the center speaker only.

Depeirding on the disc, the sound may come from
the ceirter speaker only.

^ Set "VIRTUAL 3D SURROUND" to "OFF," "VES

A" or "VES B" in the Control Menu display (page
42).

Operation

The remote does not function.

Remove any obstacles between the remote and the
player.

^ Use the remote near the player.

Point the remote at the remote sensor IS on the
player.

^ Replace all the batteries in the remote with new

ones if they are weak.

^ If you operate the player from the TV using the S-

link cormection, connect the S-link plug to the S-
link connector of the TV (page 8).

The disc does not play.

^ There is no disc inside ("Insert disc." appears on

the TV screen).
Insert a disc.

^ Irtsert the disc correctly with the playback side

facing down on the disc tray.
Clean the disc.
The player cannot play CD-ROMs, etc. (page 5).
Insert a DVD, a VIDEO CD, or CD.

^ Check the region code of the DVD (page 4).
“► Moisture has condensed inside the player. Remove

the disc and leave the player turned on for about
half an hour (page 6).
