TROUBLE SHOOTING

PROBLEM

POSSIBLE CAUSE(S)

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Engine fails to start

• Engine shut-off switch OFF.

• Move switch to ON position.

• Fuel shut-off valve closed.

• Open fuel shut-off valve.

• Fuel tank empty, or stale fuel.

• Fill tank with clean, fresh fuel.

• Spark plug wire disconnected.

• Connect wire to spark plug.

• Faulty spark plug.

• Clean, adjust gap or replace.

Loss of power;

• Spark plug wire loose.

• Connect and tighten spark plug wire.

operation erratic

• Unit running on CHOKE.

• Move choke lever to OFF position.

• Biocked fuel line or stale fuel.

• Clean fuel line; fill tank with clean fresh gasoline.

• Water or dirt in fuel system.

• Disconnect fuel line at carburetor to drain fuel

tank. Refill with fresh fuel.

• Carburetor out of adjustment.

• Adjust carburetor or contact your SEARS Service Center.

• Dirty air cleaner.

• Service air cleaner. See Customer Responsibilities

section of this manual.

Engine overheats

• Carburetor not adjusted properly.

• Contact your SEARS Service Center.

• Engine oil level low.

• Fill crankcase with proper oil.

• Air flow restricted.

• Remove blower housing and clean.

Too much vibration

• Loose parts or damaged

crankshaft.

• Stop engine immediately and disconnect

spark plug wire. Tighten all bolts and nuts.
Make all necessary repairs. If vibration continues,

have unit serviced by a SEARS Service Center.

Unit does not
discharge

• Directional discharge clogged.

• Stop engine immediately and disconnect

spark plug wire. Clean discharge area and inside
of blower housing.

• Foreign object lodged in air vane

plate assembly.

• Stop engine immediately and disconnect

spark plug wire. Remove lodged object.

HOW TO ORDER REPLACEMENT PARTS

Each air sweeper has its own model number. Each

engine has its own model number.

The model number for your air sweeper will be found
on a label attached to the frame.

The model number for the engine will be found on the
blower housing of the engine.

All parts listed herein may be ordered through Sears,

Roebuck and Co. Service Centers and most Retail
Stores.
