You may want to set your FAXPHONH to recei\e documents manually in the tollow-
ina ctise;

You wunl to personally cheek each incoming call to see if it is from a fax or from a
person.
Keep in mind that you cannot use Manual Receiving if a document is in the Automatic
Document Feeder waiting to he sent.
Press [ANS HOOK UP/MANUAL].
. icon display ed on the LCD is to show' that the
FAXPHONF, is set lor Manual Receiving.
If , icon is not displayed on the LCD, press |ANS
HOOK L^P/MANLJALI to turn It on.

When the FAXPHONE rings, pick up the handset.
For the FAXPHONF, B540. pick up the handset of the
connected extension phone.
If you hear a person's voice, start your conversa
tion. If the caller wants to send a document after
talking to you, press [START/COPY] to receive the
document.
or
If you hear a slow beep or silence, another fax is
trying to send you a document. Press [START/
COPY].
For the FAXPHONF B540 (or if you arc using an
extension phone connected to the B550), you can also
press 2 3 on the extension phone and hang up.

Hang up the handset tifter the FAXPFIONE displays RFiCEIVE. If you don't hang
up. the EAXPHONFi hceps intermittently for a few seconds after you receive the
document. To turn off the beeping, see the OFT HOOK ALARM in USER SET
